There are many kinds of addictions: alcohol, street drugs, prescription drugs, pornography, sex, gambling, and yes, even work. Our team of professionals has the experience, credentials, and expertise to treat any and all of these addictions.
Have you ever wondered if, or been told that, you drink too much? Have you become dependent on prescription pain killers, stimulants such as Adderall or Ritalin, or some other prescription drugs, such as Valium or Xanax? Have you experimented with street drugs for fun and now find you cannot stop without getting physically ill?
Have you begun to experience negative consequences of your sex, gambling, or pornography addiction such as relationship problems, problems at work, difficulty keeping a job, legal involvement? Has your “workaholism” caused health problems or problems at home? Contrary to popular opinion, there are standards by which professional therapists measure and diagnose whether or not your use falls into troublesome levels.
Regarding alcohol, it’s not just drinking daily– if it’s no more than 1 daily drink a week for a woman and two for a man, it’s generally not considered problematic—but also HOW MUCH at one time. So, even if you only drink once a month, IF you drink in excess of more than 4 drinks for a man or 3 for a woman in one day, you can be considered alcohol-dependent, have alcohol related problems, or be at risk.
Medical, behavioral, and family history will all be taken into consideration. Further testing, such as the SASSI (Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory) may be done by your therapist. In addition to psychotherapy, medication assistance is available: Naltrexone for alcohol dependence, Suboxone for opiate dependence, and other medication as deemed appropriate. Nutritional counseling and supplements, as well as acupuncture and neurofeedback can assist clients in quickly regaining their health and sense of well-being A Brain Map may even explain why. Any or all of these services can be incorporated into a plan designed specifically to meet your needs.
We look forward to working with you on your journey of recovery.
